Remembrance Rites and Soil Collection for Robert Mosely

Our community was honored to come together on November 12, 2022, to remember Robert Mosely, who was lynched in Madison County on March 21, 1890.

Collecting soil from the site of a lynching is an important act of remembrance that will continue the process of reconciliation.

One of the jars we collected on Nov. 12, 2022, will be displayed in Montgomery at the Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration. The other will find its home at Huntsville Revisited Museum (2007 North Memorial Parkway, Suite O, Huntsville, AL, United States, Alabama).

We believe these ceremonies are a step we must take to revisit past injustices - if we are serious about seeing racial healing in our county.

Thank you for your continued support.
